There has been no official word that Logic Studio will run on Leopard unless you count the Logic Pro specs which requires Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later. However, in the Apple discussion forums, many users have posted positive results, such as increased speed, with Logic Pro running on early developer versions of Leopard.
Today, Apple posted GarageBand 3.0.5, an update to support Leopard compatibility. A very good sign that your upgrade will go smoothly.
Just as important, you'll need to check with all 3rd party plugin developers to make sure that your entire music studio will work with Leopard.
Our Advice
- If you're in the middle of a project, don't upgrade.
- If you have a spare machine, use it for testing Leopard before you commit on your main machine.
- If you're happy with the way your system runs now, decide if Leopard actually brings any improvements or enhancements to your workflow before you upgrade.
- If you do upgrade, prepare yourself for some downtime and please share your experience with us.
Me, I'm reluctantly waiting. I can't afford the downtime right now and I'm happy with the way my music studio runs. But I'm really excited about using Leopard's new features and I will upgrade as soon as I possibly can and report back to you.
