Unveiling the New AI-Powered Logic Pro: A Game Changer for Music Producers

The landscape of music production is transforming, and Apple is at the forefront with its latest update to Logic Pro.

This year, both Logic Pro 2 for iPad 2 and Logic Pro 11 for Mac are receiving significant enhancements that integrate advanced artificial intelligence to streamline music creation like never before. Here’s everything you need to know about these groundbreaking updates.

Introducing Groundbreaking AI Features

Logic Pro has always been synonymous with innovation, but the introduction of AI-driven features in the latest update is a leap forward. The new version introduces Session Players, Stem Splitter, and ChromaGlow—features designed to enrich the music-making process while ensuring artists maintain full creative control.

Session Players: Your AI-Driven Backing Band

Expanding on the beloved Drummer feature, Session Players introduce a new virtual Bass Player and Keyboard Player, offering personalized, AI-driven backing that responds directly to user feedback. Whether you're laying down a bass groove or crafting complex keyboard parts, these virtual musicians adapt to your music, enhancing creativity and flow.

Stem Splitter: Isolate and Enhance

For many artists, the magic often happens outside of planned recording sessions. The Stem Splitter feature is designed to capture these moments of brilliance. It allows users to separate any mixed audio recording into four distinct components—Drums, Bass, Vocals, and Other Instruments. This capability not only recovers lost performances but also provides immense flexibility in mixing and editing.

ChromaGlow: Perfecting Your Sound

ChromaGlow leverages AI and the power of M-series Apple silicon to emulate the tonal characteristics of some of the world’s most revered studio hardware. With five different saturation styles, users can add everything from ultrarealistic warmth to modern presence, enhancing their tracks with just the right amount of sonic flavor.

  1. You’ve come a long way baby that will make recording and tweaking really interesting . Bravo Apple and Logic Pro ❤️

    1. Exciting times for Logic Pro users. And all these updates have been free!

  2. Sounds too good to be true! How will this affect users of non-silicone Macs? I bought an iMac 27”, the very last year before introduction of Apple Silicon, that has an i9, 10 core Intel processor with 128 gigs of onboard memory.

    1. If your Mac is capable of running macOS Ventura 13.5, then you should be able to use all the features except for Stem Splitter, which might only run on newer hardware. I’m not entirely sure of all the specs and requirements yet, but I’ll post an update to the blog on Monday.

  3. I’ve got Landr plugins, and some Wave CLA plugins. Will they be compatible with 11? Also, I have the Landr Mastering plugin as well as access to the latest Logic Pro mastering plugin (via 10.8). Which do you like better–if you’ve used both? Thanks

    1. I don’t see why third party plugins wouldn’t work, but without being able to test, I can’t confirm if they will work or not. It’s macOS updates that usually break plugins; not Logic Pro updates.

I’ve used Landr for mastering but have preferred iZotope Ozone. However, I mostly use Logic Pro’s Mastering Assistant now.

  4. Thanks for posting this. I confess I’m a hack and hope I can use this to make simple jingles, songs, musicals, and soundtracks, simpler and easier and with less a learning curve. In other words Logic Pro for hack dummies!

    1. hahaha! Logic Pro is definitely making it easier to sound good, and that’s a great thing.

  5. So… when do I place my pre-order for Logic Pro (11) for Mac and iPad (2) For Dummies? 😉

    1. Ha! Yes, I see a new version on the horizon! But I’m not in talks with them yet. I’d give it a year. In the mean time, I’m going to be blogging all the new features and updating my courses. Exciting times for Logic Pro users!
