MainStage 4.3 Release Notes

🆕 What's New in MainStage 4.3

MainStage 4.3 is a strong update for live performers. The headline is a reworked Patch List, joined by the same Beat Breaker and Alchemy upgrades arriving across Logic this round, along with a Loopback fix that matters on stage.

Here's what stands out.

📋 The Patch List Overhaul

The Patch List is far more usable during performance in 4.3:

  • Layout improvements make patches easier to navigate
  • You can now change the color of patch icons
  • Channel strips are automatically named from the loaded instrument preset
  • You can search and filter patches by typing
  • Output channel strips support custom color assignments
  • A new setting prevents the screen from flashing when an alert sound plays
  • The Patch List and channel strip browser now include context menus for quicker access

If you run large concerts, this is the most welcome set of changes in a while.

🥁 Beat Breaker Upgrade

  • New filter and resonance modes, with high or low pass filtering per slice
  • A panning mode for per-slice left and right movement
  • Randomization for all modes or per mode, with probability and intensity controls

🌫️ Alchemy: Granular Sync and Formant Shifting

Alchemy and Sample Alchemy gain a Granular Sync engine and formant shifting, with a new Granular Alchemy sound pack of loops, one-shots, and field recordings to put them to work.

🔁 Loopback and Reliability Wins

A few fixes that directly affect live use:

  • Using Undo inside Loopback no longer erases all recordings
  • Loopback now starts playback correctly after setting Snap To to Loop, and sets the concert tempo correctly
  • MainStage now makes it easier to quit without saving changes to a concert
  • Control Change Momentary button assignments now respond to the full range of incoming MIDI values

🛡️ Stability and Reliability

This is a large maintenance update under the hood, with extensive fixes across the Mixer, the audio and MIDI engine, Playback, the Workspace, and patch loading. If MainStage has given you any trouble during rehearsal or a show, this update is worth installing.
