Logic Pro Piano Roll Snap Settings

It is possible to automatically align event start and stop times to a grid value using the Snap drop-down menu. The menu offers the following options:

  • Smart - snaps to the nearest bar, beat, or sub-beat
  • Bar - snaps to the nearest bar
  • Beat - snaps to the nearest beat
  • Division - snaps to the nearest sub-beat (this function refers to the time signature)
  • Ticks - snaps to the nearest clock tick (1/3840th of a beat)
  • Frames - snaps to the nearest SMPTE frame


The Snap settings apply to:

  • moving, copying, adding, and resizing events and markers
  • cutting events
  • setting cycle boundaries


NOTE: holding Control while editing will override the snap function.
